Srinagar, Mar 27 (KNO): Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi on Thursday said the government will evaluate the possibility of holding Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at Eidgah in Srinagar while taking into account various factors, including weather conditions. Speaking to the media, Dr Andrabi, as reported by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said she has completed her assigned responsibilities, and the final decision now lies with the government. “The sky is overcast, and there are multiple considerations that need to be reviewed before a decision is made,” she said. The Waqf Board chairperson further added that necessary arrangements are being put in place for congregational prayers on Juma-tul-Vida and Lailat-ul-Qadr. However, regarding Eid prayers at Eidgah, she said the government will take a final call after assessing all aspects. Notably, the historic Eidgah in Srinagar has traditionally hosted large congregational prayers during Eid. However, in recent years, these gatherings have been disrupted due to factors like security concerns and adverse weather conditions—(KNO)
